Aquarius Moon Poetry Night: Healing and Heartbreak

Writer's picture: iamladykendraiamladykendra

Last night, poets and lovers of the fine arts from across the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex gathered to hear some of the most dynamic word assassins in the area. Czar Speakz presented Aquarius Moon Poetry Night and was hosted by the intelligently, hilarious The Poet Shug- who is a loan officer by day and somebody’s momma, spoken word artist and comedian by night.

The Poet Shug

The night of poetry was housed by the black owned establishment, The Union Ft. Worth (who by the way is currently hiring- thank us later). The cozy, intimate atmosphere was the perfect backdrop for allowing the creativity of the arts to flow freely. As talented poets blessed the mic, drinks of high caliber were served by a full service, black owned catering company. The lounge was filled with hand painted art which has become almost obsolete as we have jumped head first into a digital word. But most of all, the room was blessed by the poets.

A few of the featured word wonders included The Poet Shug, Flow, B. Randall, and others.

The night was capped off with an awesome, captivating set by poet Akeem Stroupe and HAEtheprophet. The pair met 3 years through mutual friends and Akeem became the preacher’s spoken word coach. HAEtheprophet, in turn, dragged Akeem to a professional photoshoot. Akeem is now a spoken word artist and a professional print ad model. HAEtheprophet is a mantled, trained and ordained Shamar prophet, model and is currently on tour with neo-soul, gospel artist Kimestre’ as a spoken word artist.

The dynamic duo captivated the audience with their signature piece, Healing and Heartbreak. The poem speaks of the push and pull between the universal, magnetic force of a healed woman filled with sacred feminine energy and her counterbalance- the divine hunter. The tag line of the poem itself is enough to captivate the least curious person as the balance of feminine and masculine energy is leaked through lyrics: healing and heartbreak, healing through heartbreak. Tired of healing for healing's sake.
