Cleveland Browns Banging Brains???

Writer's picture: iamladykendraiamladykendra

When a major NFL team has a franchise-record and league-high 16-year playoff drought, we really don’t expect the team to be in the headlines. That is until today! The Cleveland Brown’s have made their way to national headlines this morning for attempting to buss another player’s head down to the white meat!

Myles Garrett attack during Thursday Night Football

Just imagine Thursday Night Football as the Steelers are playing the Browns. The Browns are actually seconds away from winning the game and then your former No. 1 overall pick rips off the helmet of the opposing quarterback and then proceeds to bang his head with it? How Sway? Many people woke up this morning with the same question. When the Browns star player, Myles Garrett, was questioned about the attack on Steelers quarterback, Mason Rudolph, his response was unacceptable to many. “I lost my cool”, said Garrett during a post-game, locker room interview.

Myles Garrett

His reasoning isn’t sitting well with players or the league. This isn’t pee-wee football we are talking about here. Garrett, a graduate of James Martin HS in Arlington, Texas, was a letterman in football, basketball, and track. Garrett was rated as a five-star recruit by the Rivals.com recruiting network and was ranked as the second-best overall player in his class. He played college football at Texas A&M University as the #2 overall prospect in the nation, and the highest-rated defensive player the Aggie's had ever signed. In track & field, he was a state qualifier. Garrett was named a defensive captain for the 2018 season. In the 2018 season, Garrett started all 16 games and recorded 13.5 sacks, 44 combined tackles, 12 tackles-for-loss, 29 quarterback hits, three passes defensed, and three forced fumbles. His 13.5 sacks ranked sixth in the 2018 NFL season. He was ranked 49th by his fellow players on the NFL Top 100 Players of 2019. This is a seasoned athlete here.

Welp, an All-Star player who was once known for being invested in poetry and dinosaurs will now forever be known for his unacceptable breaking of The Code. Did we see this coming though? His 2019 season has already been plagued with typical offenses such as late hits and personal fouls. Looks like he should have been on someone’s couch before it escalated to potentially killing a man. Depending on the decision of the league and the ability of other players to move past this intentional assault, Garrett may be switching careers and becoming a poet or paleontologist in the future.

And the Internet STILL has no chill!
