Houston native, Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter was given the nickname of Slayoncè after she so graciously instructed the BeyHive how to “get in formation”.  True to her name, she made a quick, astonishing appearance at The Lion King world premiere on July 9th at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California.  Peaches, affectionally the favorite name from her billionaire husband, did not disappoint.  She ripped the red carpet in a vintage inspired, bedazzled, black and silver, custom gown from Alexander McQueen.  She added additional “slayage” by applying beautifully layered accessories from Lorraine Schwartz jewelry.  Momma Blue was escorted to the event by Blue Blue who is a performer and fashion icon in her own right at 7 years old.  Blue Ivy Carter is in the process of being trademarked to release everything from fragrances to cosmetics to hair care to entertainment services.  Baba, a new nickname according to grandma Tina Knowles, has made guest appearances on several albums and videos for her superstar mother and father.  It is of no surprise that she slayed in an Alexander McQueen ensemble of her own.

“So where are we going?  It better not be any place dumb.”- Nala

On June 24, 1994, Walt Disney Pictures released it’s 32ndanimated feature film called The Lion King and the world has not been the same!  The film received positive reviews from critics and initially grossed $766 million world-wide.  The Lion King is also the highest-grossing traditionally animated film of all time, as well as the best-selling film on home video.  After earning two Academy Awards for its achievement in music and the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture, the film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".

“What’s a motto?” “Nothing, what’s the motto with you?” – Simba and Timon

After the success of Disney’s The Jungle Book in 2016, plans for a remake of The Lion King were confirmed and production began in mid-2017.  The director for the 2019 release, Jon Favreau, set his heart on Queen Bey to be cast as Nala and would not settle for anyone else.  Favreau, along with the studio, was willing to do whatever it took to accommodate the busy schedule of B.  Their persistence paid off on November 1, 2017 with the official announcement that Ay Bey Bey had been cast as Nala.  In case you have been under a rock since 1994, Nala is Simba's childhood best friend and future love interest. According to the director for the 2019 release, Nala’s character has a bigger role than in the original film. Favreau felt that a major reason Mama Blue joined the cast is because she has young kids.  “Part of it is that it's a story that feels good for this phase of her life and her career, and she really likes the original very much. And then, of course, there are these wonderful musical numbers that she can be involved with, and my God... she really lives up to her reputation as far as the beauty of her voice and talent”. - John Favreau

“Everything you see exists together in a delicate balance. As king, you need to understand that balance and respect all the creatures, from the crawling ant to the leaping antelope.” – Mufasa

Beginning on June 24, 2019 (which marked the 25th anniversary of the release of the original film), The Lion King became the second-best pre-seller of 2019 on Fandango in its first 24 hours of pre-sales.  Three weeks prior to its release, industry tracking projected the film would gross $150–170 million in its opening weekend.  The film is scheduled to be theatrically released in the United States on July 19, 2019.  It is our heart felt desire to give you the best advice possible here at LA Vibe. Leave opening weekend for Generation X and the Millennials- this is serious, life- changing, sentimental and emotional for us!
