Chandler Foreman is a Texas beauty who overcame low self esteem, feelings of failure, and pageant stereotypes to win a beauty pageant and some scholarship money to boot.
Foreman brought a brand new look to the pageant circles. The black Texas beauty who just won Miss Texas 2019 impressed the crowd with her natural look and physique.
The 21-year-old stunner does not look like the typical pageant girl. She has always had a curvy body with a little extra pounds. Her hard work and training helped her drop one dress size. She focused on toning and building a stronger body than just losing weight. All her hard work paid off because she became a favorite at the pageant.
Foreman’s siblings Klarke Foreman and Dexter Foreman are 23 and 24 years old. This makes her the youngest member of the family. Klark is a high school teacher and Dexter is taking a Masters degree at the University of Maryland. He is majoring in Commercial Real Estate.
As the newly crowned Miss Texas, Chandler has the opportunity to compete for the national title of Miss America.
Miss Congeniality
Chandler Foreman is no stranger to beauty pageants. She won her first pageant at the age of 15 when she was a high school student at Manvel High School in Texas.
The Sophomore had just won the title of Miss Black USA talented teen after participating in her very first pageant. Her program to encourage her fellow teens to avoid any behavior that might jeopardize their future won the hearts of the judges.
After winning the Miss Black Teen Texas, Foreman moved on to start competing in Miss Texas.
In 2017, Foreman won the Miss Houston title. Miss Houston title gave her the opportunity to represent Houston in the annual Miss Texas Scholarship Pageant in Richardson, where she won $1,500 in scholarship money.
She went to the University of North Texas to become a Broadcast Journalism major.
As Chandler Foreman continued to participate in beauty pageants, she developed a knack for winning Miss Congeniality.
Just before the Miss Texas competition, Chandler's mother Courtenay Foreman told a local newspaper that she was proud of her daughter for winning the respect and admiration of her fellow competitors. The pageant mom said it makes her feel like she raised a good person.
Flute
Chandler Foreman impressed the judges by playing a Diana Ross medley on the flute. The songs she played were Mahogany, Do you Know Where you are Going to, and Ain'tNo Mountain High Enough.
Foreman is an experienced flutist. She picked up the flute when she was only a sixth grader and has been playing ever since. From playing the flute at Nolan Ryan Junior High, she went on to major in music at the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Houston.
Ever since Chandler discovered the flute, she took to it like a second nature, even playing in a band with older children because of how passionate she was.
Pageant Mum
For Chandler’s mother, seeing her daughter win the pageant was a wonderful experience. Courtenay Foreman had followed Miss Texas and Miss America competitions for years, not knowing that her daughter would one day appear on stage at Miss Texas.
Now she will have the pleasure of seeing Chandler competing in the Miss America beauty pageant.
Mom Courtenay Foreman has settled fully into the pageant mum life. She has started working to bring pageant moms together. They wear matching T shirts and take a group photo.
Courtenay reaches out to new pageant mums at the Miss Texas teen pageant. She helps them to fit into the pageant life well. The competition takes a whole week, which can be just as stressful for the mums as for the contestants.
Courtenay invited them to meet on the opening night of the competition. They had a group photo with matching T shirts. It was a good time to give them a clue of what to expect and what questions to ask.
The Miss Texas pageant mums are more experienced in participating in beauty pageants, but the Miss Texas Outstanding Queen pageant mums are new to the scene and gladly welcome Mrs. Foreman’s help.
Courtenay Foreman earns a living teaching English online, and she has found her daughter’s time in the pageant as exciting for her as well.
Chandler Foreman is a former runner up at the Miss Texas Outstanding Teen, the teen version of the Miss Texas beauty pageant.
Coming second runner up was a bittersweet experience for the Texas beauty. On one hand she was upset because she had missed the win so narrowly but on the other hand, she was awarded Miss Congeniality as well as Evening Gown and Interview at a banquet following the pageant. Her winnings, including the scholarship, were worth $2,500.
According to mom Courtenay Foreman, participating in the pageants helped her daughter to overcome low self esteem and to define her purpose. She called the scholarship money a huge blessing.
Today Chandler has won her greatest victory yet, the Miss Texas pageant.
Miss Texas
Miss Texas is a preliminary event to Miss America Scholarship Pageant. The pageant was created to empower young women to work towards their goals in life.
Behind the pageant is a team of volunteers and the management of the franchise that makes sure the event goes on without a hitch.
Miss Texas has been running since 1937 and provides more scholarship dollars for young women than any other organization in Texas.
Women who compete in Miss Texas can do community service as they pursue their education. They also express their talents and good values in the community. The pageant aims to help the women achieve success throughout their lives. Women who win go on to become role models in their communities.
